A long-term documentary project based in Manshiyat Naser, Cairo - home to the Zabaleen community, who have sustained the city’s informal waste economy for decades.
From the chaos of the streets, to the serenity of the rooftops, the project documents the ingenuity, pride, faith and passion that exist within this marginalised Coptic Christian community, defined from the outside derogatorily as “Garbage City”.
The project is being developed as part of my on-going postgraduate research at Falmouth University.
