John McGrane is a documentary photographer based in Cairo. His practice centres on long-form projects exploring identity, labour and faith within marginalised communities.

His current body of work, Recycle City, focuses on the Zabaleen community of Manshiyat Naser, Cairo, and forms part of his postgraduate studies at Falmouth University. Through this project, he examines how photography can engage with complexity beyond surface representation.

He has completed commissioned documentary assignments for organisations including UNHCR and was invited to speak at Cairo Photo Week about his photographic practice.
